House name windows

Really busy week at MWS.
I was asked re-paint the name of a house on a glass panell above a door. This was a fun job as the lettering was already laid out, I just had to re-colour it. An as you can see the letterfaces are beautiful.
While doing the house name, the neighbour saw me and asked for his to be done, but his pannel was plain glass. So I used the letterface from house 1 to create something for house two. The results are brill

Building a sign up

I thought it might be interesting to show you how a sign is created.
It starts with a drawing, usualy to scale or actual size. Doing an actuare drawing means the sign can be replicated over agan. This set of pictures are from two signs, the only difference being the bottom scroll.
The base layers are added first, backrounds and borders, like the red border, the pale backround and then the flag. Details go onto that, like the banner, stars and scrolls. And its the lettering that comes last, again in layers, backround first and details after.

Lambretta scooter

This was a really fast project a few weeks ago. I did all this work in 3 days.
The owner had done the blue paintwork under the signwriting, It was all destressed and had bare metal visible, the effect was really lovely, especialy with the crisp lines of signwriting over the top.
I was very pleased with the outcome of this. I've asked the owner for a photo of the panels attached to the vehicle an I'll upload that as soon as I have a piccy.

Double Bass

Back In April I was asked to paint a confederate flag on the back of a Double Bass. This was a large scale piece of work for me. I had so much fun doing it and as you can see the results were fantastic.
The owner was so pleased he wanted more done and so I did the flames up the front of the instrument.

Sunsets and things

The first was a house sign for a place in Greece.
The second is the background to my brothers x-mas present. It'll eventualy have two silhouetted ladies on it. I'll add a photo as soon as its done. It was an experiement with paint on gold techniques. behind the sunset is gold leaf and behind the water is silver. The whole thing really glows and seams to change as its seen form different angles
I just added some more pics from the sunset series. This is an ongoing selection of work that i'm really enjoying creating.

Pub Sign

I recently did a pub sign for a friend. He brews his own cider, which is excelent, so I thought he deserved a sign.
Signwriting enamels and gold leaf on two layers of Di-bond.

Telephone Box

I spent yesterday at the national post box museum. Its a fantastic place! Lots to see and surprisingly interesting. Please go check out their website, the address is on the links page.
Whilst there I gilded the three crowns on top of the telephone box.
The museum is highly recomended an the next open day is the 23rd July 2011.
